Hartington puts down roots (Part II)

The group, explains Levdanskyi, consists of four companies: Hartington Business and Hartington Pharmaceutical in Spain, Hartington Pharmaceutical Ltd. in the United Kingdom (which is responsible for regulatory affairs) and Iveriapharma in Georgia (where the production plant and R&D laboratory are). “Georgia has an enormous abundance and variety of plants, on a par with Amazonia,” assures Levdanskyi. The group’s total sales amounted to 4.4 million euros in 2008, according to statements by the company, and it plans to reach 5 million euros in 2009.

The pharmaceutical company, originally from Georgia, where it still has its production plant, is currently developing its second product.

“We are in Barcelona because it is a good place to start a pharmaceutical company and because we wanted to live here,” says Levdanskyi, who explains that before creating Hartington he had a pharmaceutical production company in his own country. Hartington has taken on Ramón López, from Laboratorios Salvat, as its medical director.
More than two million units of Nasodren have been sold since the product was launched in 2004, the company says. It is currently growing strongly in the United States, France, United Kingdom and Australia.
